FAQ

How much do EV’s cost?

Electric Vehicle (EV) costs vary depending on the model you choose. Upfront costs for your new EV will depend on model and trim level, as well as the type of battery your EV was built with. Extended battery range will cost more. On the flip side, your EV will save you money over time – as they take NO GAS (think about what you’re spending on fuel monthly with your current ICE ((Internal Combustion Engine)) vehicle). EV’s also have no consumable parts, so you’ll be saving on repairs too, with only tires and wiper blades to worry about (so add up how much you’re spending on oil changes & other repairs!). EV’s run on electricity, and can be charged at your home with the included EV charger. Other ‘high speed’ chargers are available for purchase, that require a 240 volt plug installed in your garage if you don’t already have one. Costs for the charger and the electrician to install it will vary. In addition to these savings, you will also save on maintenance & repairs as EV’s purchased through Trillium Ford Lincoln come with an extra-long warranty – typically 8-years or 160,000kms, with additional warranties available through our Finance & Insurance Dept. Overall, you can expect to save big time with your EV vehicle from Trillium Ford Lincoln Ltd. – Alliston or Shelburne.

How much will I save on gas and spend on Hydro?

At the current price of gasoline (approx. 1.50/L at the time of publishing) the average person commuting 40 kms to work daily, return (plus using their ICE vehicle for weekend errands) will spend $400-$600 or more at the pumps per month. Your EV runs on electricity, and depending on the type of charger you install (regular wall socket or an enhanced 240V receptacle) you can expect to spend about $300-$500/year on household charging. You will also need to factor in the cost to charge your EV when out and about, at public charging stations. Public stations that use Level 2 chargers usually cost $1.00/hour or $2.50 charge, while Level 3 stations (DC Fast Chargers) usually cost between $15-20/hour and take under an hour to charge.

How do I locate an EV Charging Station?

Your Ford or Lincoln vehicle, purchased through Trillium Ford Lincoln, comes with access to the BlueOval Charging Network - the largest public charging network in North America , - providing thousands of charging locations whenever you’re away from home. Leave ‘range anxiety’ behind with the BlueOval Charge Network providing easy pay-as-you-go access to thousands of public EV charging stations (with no annual fee) all managed through your FordPass app. EV charging on the road is even more convenient as Ford owners have access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across Canada and the U.S. with the help of an EV adapter (available at Trillium Frd Lincoln). Additional resources can be found on your favorite traffic/maps app (Google Maps, Waze, Shell, PlugShare, Chargehub, etc.) on your phone, or by visiting this Government of Ontario website.

How far will my EV go?

Depending on the Electric Vehicle (EV) you choose: F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, E-Transit cargo van, Escape ST Line Elite, Escape Plug-In Hybrid or Maverick Hybrid, travel distances between charging will vary. The type of battery your EV comes installed with will also factor in, as will: driving conditions, pre-conditioning your vehicle, towing & hauling, terrain, routes with stop-and-go traffic, temperature and speeding. To make the Most of Your Charge:

Set Your Interior Temperature in Advance with Preconditioning:

Your EV has a convenient feature called preconditioning that lets you heat or cool your vehicle’s interior temperature to your preference by a set departure time using the FordPass App. When preconditioning is set up and your vehicle is plugged in, your EV will draw on energy from the power grid rather than your vehicle's battery. When you are ready to depart, the cabin temperature is comfortable without the need to deplete the charge from the high-voltage battery.

Stick to the Speed Limit:

Try to avoid quick acceleration and hard braking ince they affect range. If you brake slowly and smoothly, you can help capture more energy.

Utilize Cruise Control:

When traffic and road conditions permit, use cruise control to help maintain a constant set speed, and avoid driving at higher speeds, which can have a negative impact on your range. Say No to Stop-and-Go Traffic: If you can, avoid routes that have heavy stop-and-go traffic and many stoplights.

More Wind and Weight Means Less Range:

Have a trailer or roof-mounted bike rack? They are convenient but can decrease range. Skip them and you can reduce energy use.

Exemple de Keep Up on Maintenance:

Remember to keep up with your scheduled maintenance and the latest software updates. Being diligent can help optimize your Ford EV's performance, and having the latest rollout of software keeps your vehicle’s system optimized.
